The Rocks Aroma Festival (Archive July-08)

Come and visit us at this year's fabulous 'The Rocks Aroma Festival' on Sunday, 6 July 10am-5pm.  Located at The Rocks (in Sydney), it's a great way to try our coffee if you haven't had the chance to come down to our Clarence Street store.

The SMH Verdict!!  (Archive Apr-08) 

THE SYDNEY MORNING HERALD - GOOD LIVING (08/04/08) reports on their search for "Sydney's best coffee" and VELLUTO NERO comes out #1 - "Top of the list"!! 

Extremely exciting and important news from The Sydney Morning Herald (Good Living has been coined the "food bible" for Sydney-siders) who searched all over Sydney to report on their coffee findings, in their special "Coffee Issue".  VELLUTO NERO won both categories judged for black (short black) and milk-based (cappacino) coffees with great comments from the judges.

Thank you to The SMH for this fabulous recognition, and of course thank you to our wonderful customers who have been so supportive of us over the last 6 months of operation.  We are just beaming!!

P.S. did anyone see Gina, Vicky & Aileen on the front cover!!?!  We were surprised too!

CHAMPION ESPRESSO!! (Archive Mar-08)

You heard it here first.  This year's Sydney Royal Show awarded just one Gold Medal in the renowned Fine Food Show for the category of COFFEE.  And drum roll please... the Gold Medal award goes to VELLUTO NERO!!

And if that wasn't exciting enough - the CHAMPION ESPRESSO title winner across the category was also awarded to the industry-newcomer, VELLUTO NERO!!

We are just over the moon with this acknowledgement. Our commitment to premium quality, freshness, taste and experience has been reflected in this award.  Thank you Sydney Royal Show organisers, and also the category judges who blind tasted a phenomenal number of coffees for this event.

FROM ZERO TO NERO! (Archive Sept-07)

In September 2007, brand new VELLUTO NERO Roastery, Coffee Bean Boutique & Caffe Bar opened it’s doors on Clarence Street and now offers those in the city a unique coffee experience.  A one-stop-shop for all things coffee, and best of all – the glorious beans are roasted in store.  It’s fresh, it’s decadent and it’s easily accessible!

The timing for launch coincided with Rainforest Alliance (RFA) Fortnight falling on 17th-30th September.  VELLUTO NERO supports different sustainability practices when acquiring our green beans, including certified RFA lines available as single origins.  Check out the soft / medium body and full flavoured Costa Rica Hacienda Rio Negro or Brazilian Deterra available in-store or online.
